Public Engagement
I think everyone deserves access to science and to have it discussed with them in an understandable way. Science literacy is important for society to make informed decisions. Additionally, all people should be welcomed in science. I believe part of being a scientist means sharing our work, both formally and informally, with scientists and non-scientists and making sure we keep public good in mind in all of our endeavors.

Two of the main organizations I have been previously extensively involved with are Science is Fun with Bassam Shakhashiri and GEMS. These programs are highlighted on other pages. Please check them out!

At Kalamazoo College I am the faculty leader for the annual Family Science Night. I am also open to new opportunities, including coming to local classrooms. Please reach out!

Working with students at GEMS-a program I started providing middle school girls with role models and hands-on science experience

Presenting at the PIERS conference in Rome Italy June 2019
Besides leadership roles with GEMS and Science is Fun, I have participated in many other organizations doing important work. I encourage you to check them out and get involved as well. They are linked to their website where possible.
